Sometimes, it is hard to find the exact zipper needed in your for a project. So, I thought it would be fun to share an easy trick for reducing zippers and adding zipper tabs. But first, let’s explore the anatomy of a nylon zipper. When trying to reduce the size of a zipper, it is important to understand all the working “parts”. (aka- zipper anatomy) This will help keep you out of trouble later.
- The zipper merge is when a driver exhausts a lane all the way to the choke point and then falls in line one by one with the traffic in the lane, like the teeth of a zipper. Some people think it's.

How to Create Zipper Tabs
This project is for all levels. Www remove bg background.
Skill Level- 1 Button
Supplies:
- zipper
- 2 1/2″ x 4″ rectangle of woven fabric
Tools:
- sewing machine
- pins
- scissors
Basic Instructions:
- Fold and press fabric rectangle in half lengthwise to expose the “pretty” side of fabric.
- Open it back up and fold each side to the center; press.
- Trim the ends of the zipper tail to just below the “stopper”. *Note do not cut off the bottom stopper!
- Slip the zipper end in between the folded fabric to create a sandwich. Pin in place.
- Straight stitch along the edge. Trim off ends of fabric from zipper tab.
- Open zipper slightly and repeat steps 3 & 4. Be sure to line up the zipper straight across the top opening before attaching the zipper tab.
Additional Notes:
- Go SLOW when stitching over the coil part of zipper. If the needle hits the zipper coil too fast it could snap and break.
- Consider stitching the fabric twice for security.
Zipper tabs are the perfect little detail for small pouches. Sometimes, even if the zipper is the right size, I will make it smaller just to add the tabs. I just love the added punch of color! This landmark consumer product safety law amended CPSA in 2008 and provided CPSC with significant new regulatory and enforcement tools as part of amending and enhancing several CPSC statutes, including the Consumer Product Safety Act. The CPSIA included provisions addressing, among other things, lead, phthalates, toy safety, durable infant or toddler products, third-party testing and certification, tracking labels, imports, ATVs, civil and criminal penalties and SaferProducts.gov, a publically-searchable database of reports of harm. The CPSIA also repealed a challenging agency funding limitation and increased the number of authorized CPSC commissioners from three to five.
The CPSIA defines the term “children’s product” and generally requires that children’s products:
- Comply with all applicable children’s product safety rules;
- Be tested for compliance by a CPSC-accepted accredited laboratory, unless subject to an exception;
- Have a written Children’s Product Certificate that provides evidence of the product’s compliance; and
- Have permanent tracking information affixed to the product and its packaging where practicable.
The CPSIA also requires domestic manufacturers or importers of non-children’s products to issue a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC). These GCC’s apply to products subject to a consumer product safety rule or any similar CPSC rule, ban, standard or regulation enforced by the Commission.
